Frequently Asked Questions

This application works best with direct video/audio file URLs — links that end in file extensions like .mp4, .webm, .mkv, .mp3, .wav, etc. For example: https://example.com/videos/my-video.mp4. When you paste a page URL (like a YouTube page), the app will recognize the site and provide guidance on how to find the direct file URL.
Major platforms like YouTube, Netflix, and others use DRM protection and authenticated streaming to protect their content. As a web-based application running in your browser, we cannot bypass these protections. We respect content protection systems and only support downloading from sources where the content is publicly accessible. This app is designed for downloading content that the website itself allows or exposes as accessible media.
Yes. This is a fully client-side application that runs entirely in your browser. No data is sent to any server. Your download history is stored locally in your browser's localStorage. No accounts, no tracking, no data collection.
When you download a file, your browser will prompt you to choose a save location (or automatically save to your default Downloads folder, depending on your browser settings). The download history in the app tracks what you've downloaded but the actual files are saved by your browser.
Yes! The app is fully responsive and works on smartphones, tablets, and desktops. The interface adapts to your screen size with a mobile-friendly navigation menu, touch-friendly buttons, and optimized layouts.

You can often find the direct video URL using browser developer tools:

  • Right-click on the video and select "Inspect" or "Inspect Element"
  • Look for a <video> HTML tag — the src attribute contains the direct URL
  • Alternatively, press F12 to open Developer Tools, go to the Network tab, filter by "Media", then play the video. The video file URL will appear in the network requests
  • Copy that URL and paste it into the Edeson Video Downloader
CORS (Cross-Origin Resource Sharing) is a browser security feature that prevents a web page from making requests to a different domain. If the video server doesn't allow cross-origin requests, the app cannot fetch the file directly. In this case, the app will automatically open the video URL in a new tab where you can right-click and save the file manually.
No. This application cannot and does not bypass login authentication, premium subscriptions, DRM protection, paywalls, or any access restrictions. It only works with publicly accessible content. If content requires a login or subscription, you'll need to use the platform's official download features where available.

Troubleshooting

  • Make sure the URL is a direct link to a video file (ends in .mp4, .webm, etc.)
  • Check your internet connection
  • Try a different browser
  • Disable popup blockers that may prevent the download
  • Check if the URL is still valid and the file hasn't been removed
Download speed depends on your internet connection and the server hosting the file. If the server has bandwidth limitations, the download will be slower. Try downloading during off-peak hours or check your internet speed.
  • The download may have been incomplete. Try downloading again
  • The file format may not be supported by your media player. Try VLC Media Player which supports most formats
  • The file may have been corrupted during transfer
